Useful Facts in Our History - AlQadeseyya Battle: Fought by Muslims against Persians in the 15th Hijri year, where 30,000 Muslim soldier defeated 250,000 Persian soldier in only five days, this battle is believed to be one of the main reasons of toppling the Persian Empire. - The first attack launched against ancient Persian Empire by the Muslim Empire was dated on 12 Hijri year. - The old Capital of the ancient Persian Empire was Al-Mada'en in Iraq nowadays. - On the 12th Hijri year four Muslim armies were sent to the old Roman Empire amongst them the army lead by Amr 'ebn Al'as. - The first attack launched against the old Roman Empire by the Muslim Empire was dated on 11 Hijri year, and was named by the Tabouq Battle. - The first attack lauched against Al-Andalus (Spain and Portugal today) by Muslims was dated on 92 Hirji year, and was led by Tareq bin Zeyyad by the order of Mousa bin Al-Nouser. The attacks remained from 92 till 95 Hijri year and resulted in Muslims taking the reigns over Spain and Portugal reaching France where the Muslim troops reached 60 km of Parisian land. - During the 11th Hijri year and after the death of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), the Muslim Empire suffered from Apostasy Wars amongst them was the famous Al-Yamama Battle between Muslims (11,000) and the Apostates (100,000) led by Musaylama Al-Kazab , where the Empire was divided, yet under the reign of the first Muslim Caliph Abu Bakr Al-Sedeeq, the Empire was united once more and any non-believer sources eradicated through the Empire in one year. - The Muslim Empire kept strengthening its command through holding power over additional lands until the 35th Hijri year which was marked by killing of Sayedna 'Othman bin 'Affan, which was followed by further battles and division. - The 41st Hijri year was named "The Unity year" where the Muslim Empire had been united yet another time. - From the date 41 Hijri till 95 Hijri the Muslim Empire grew to hold more lands spreading its reign through Turkey, India and many other countries. - The land of Palestine has been occupied in the past times for three times, where the first occupation remained for 88 years, the second 10 years, and the third time remained for one year through the Crusade Wars. - The days of Reform in the Islamic Empire started long before the reign of leader Salah Al-Din Al-Ayoubi, exactly 100 years before, a movement by the name (Reformation Movement) was led by two Sheikhs, Al-Emam Abu Hamed Al-Ghazali, and Al-Emam Abu Bakr AlTartoushi. The two Sheikhs started their trials of reform with the rulers but to no avail, then they moved on to the level of scientists, and thus a people's movement started taking place, such movement reached the city of Mawsel where the reign of Al-Zanki dwelled, they accepted the change and started learning the rightful bases of religion, and Reformation started taking place in Al-Mawsel. Afterwards the movement moved on to Damascus and Northern Iraq, and Egypt, where the ruler of Egypt had been removed and in his stead leader Salah Al-Din Al-Ayoubi was put in power by Al-Zanki. - The Ayoubian Era started and the Islamic Empire was united under its hold, during that Era the Crusade Wars were won by Salah Al-Din Al-Ayoubi removing them from Jerusalem. - The threats from the Mongol Empire followed such Era, when it started spreading its poison through Europe then Damascus, Palestine and Egypt. During such stage, a scientist by the name Al-'Ezz Bin Abd-Alsalam started creating a new movement calling for unity which was emanated from Damascus, however he was banished and his beliefs refused, which led him to move towards Egypt where his thoughts were accepted creating a people's movement. Al-'Ezz Bin Abd-Alsalam tutored many followers among which stood the leader Saif Al-Din Qotoz who eradicated the Mongol threat. - The Muslim Empire started a stage of steady fall afterwards, we note that the factors for such fall were: 1- The absence of enlightened scientists. 2- Diminishing the role of Women in Science and Society, causing the female factor to fall into a weak frame of the mother and wife, which has in its turn fallen away from the true essence of education and building up of the integral unit of any society which is the family. 3- An escalation in the level of scientific speech to an extent that proved difficult to understand by the average Man, thus there was a large rift between Science and Society, where religious scientists forgot their role in the society and started indulging themselves in scientific circles including none but their own. - In the years to follow there has been no movements for change save two; one created in 1928 by Hasan Al-Bana in Egypt who started directing an understandable form of speech by the standards of the average Man, creating religious books speaking in a simple language, thus reviving scientists one more time to speak to the people. The other movement was in Pakistan in the year 1941 created by Abu Al-A'la Al-Mawdoodi which called for the same doctrines initialized by Hasan Al-Bana among which stood again the meanings of Jihad, and Islam as a comprehensive way for life. Both movements spread to a certain extent however halted at an early stage, creating effects that remain till now in different parts of the lives of Muslims. - Lastly we have to notice that the fall of the Muslim Empire came from internal factors rather than external, which was the reason for the fall of other Empires such as the Persian and the Roman Empires. - The fall of other Empires was due to their moral decline and the movement of the Muslims. - All battles and wars took place between Muslims and other Empires that held supreme positions in science and art, adding to that, such Empires were technologically developed countries, yet the Muslim Empire won over battles between such countries, we have to note that the key to such success was not due to the building of more technological arsenals, only in building up Man. This information was taken to the point from a taped lecture for Sheikh Tareq Sowaydan by the name of Islam and the Slope of Civilizations..

Message to non Muslim's

If anyone has a real desire to be a Muslim and has full conviction and strong belief that Islam is the true religion ordained by Allah for all human-beings, then, one should pronounce the "Shahada", the testimony of faith, without further delay. The Holy Qur'an is explicit on this regard as Allah states:

"The Religion in the sight of Allah is Islam." (Qur'an 3:19)

In another verse of the Holy Qur'an, Allah states:

"If anyone desires a religion other than Islam (Submission to Allah), Never will it be accepted of him; and in the Hereafter he will be in the ranks of those who have lost."(Qur'an 3:85)

If a person does not pronounce the Shahada and enter Islaam, we cannot say that he is a Muslim, even if he admired Islaam and recognized that it the best religion, a great religion, and so on. Abu Taalib, the uncle of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) died a kaafir (non-Muslim), and Allaah forbade His Prophet to pray for forgiveness for him, even though he used to defend the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and said in his poems: "I do know that the religion of Muhammad is better than all other religions of mankind; were it not for fear of blame or slander, you would find me accepting it completely."
